Sony Ericsson: “No multitouch in X10″ due to hardware and software issues

In a comment left on the Sony Ericsson Product Blog, SE man Rikard explained that there won’t be any specific “multitouch” features in the company’s XPERIA X10 Android phone, and there won’t EVER be in future – thanks to “software and hardware” issues.

However, they are “working on” ways to enhance Android’s page zooming tool in their own unique way. Here’s the unsummarised full quote:

“However I have now gotten confirmation on the question of multi touch. As said earlier there’s no multitouch in X10 – and I also can confirm that it’s not only related to SW but also to HW. Despite this, for future updates of X10 we are of course working on other solutions for e.g. zooming, which has been requested frequently on this blog, such has the solution demoed on X10 mini at and similar”

The X10 is coming perilously close to launching after an unbelievably drawn-out publicity campaign, with Vodafone currently featuring a holding page prior to an “April 6″ launch, and Play still sticking by an April 2 release date for a SIM-free and unlocked version – oh, and Orange has the white X10, if you’re into that.
