Dialog Testing Evolved High Speed Packet Access

Evolved High Speed Packet Access also known as: HSPA Evolution; HSPA+; I-HSPA or Internet HSPA is a wireless broadband standard defined in 3GPP release 7.

Dialog Telekom has reportedly launched a pilot network based on HSPA+ technology. The first to implement the technology in the South Asian region, which allows theoretical mobile download speeds of up to 21Mbps, and uplink speeds of up to 5.76Mbps. The aim of HSPA Evolution is to further improve the performance of WCDMA systems through higher peak rates, lower latency, greater capacity, increased battery times, better support for VoIP, and improved multicast/broadcast capabilities.

After the completion of a proposed trial phase, the operator is planning to widen its HSPA+ coverage across its existing 3.5G HSDPA network spanning Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Nuwara Eliya, Trincomalee and other major towns.
