Dell Computers planning to entry the mobile phone market have resurfaced again!
There’s a lot of speculation that the handset will be showcased at next month’s 3GSM event in Barcelona.
In 2007, Dell recruited Motorola’s President of Mobile Devices, Ron Garriques to head up a new Global Consumer division. At Motorola, Mr Garriques was largely responsible for the launch of the highly popular RAZR range of handsets. Therefore I believe there’s a huge tendency of Dell entering the mobile phone market.
Analyst say that Dell smartphones will be based on the Android operating system – however, the long heritage with supporting Microsoft Windows and only last July, Dell teamed up with Microsoft to develop a range of 3G capable products for the Chinese TD-SCDMA standard. The core aspect of the cooperation relates to studying the compatibility of the Windows operating system with a 3G data card and Dell computers.
