Mobile Phone Market in Sri Lanka to Expand!

According to a report from CIMB Research of Malaysia, local telecom industry is expected to do well due to increasing smartphone usage, regulatory interventions ans post war economic growth. Smartphones such as the Nokia N8, Samsung GalaxyS which has social media intergration to popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and FourSquare lurs more people to opt for smartphones replacing their stationed computers to interact with friends and family. Which suggest demand for broadband. Mobile user penetration in Sri Lanka was 77% in the first half of 2010, but the unique user penetration is estimated to be around 55% taking into consideration the multiple SIM usage. Dialog claims to share 43% of the mobile penetration, and Mobitel at second place with 24%. While Etisalat, Hutch and Airtel share 3rd, 4th and 5th place respectivly.



Motorola Sues Apple

Motorola has filed complaint in the United States District Courts in two states plus with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on 18 of it’s patent infringements. The technology in question includes antenna design, wireless email, location based services and data syncronization. Motorola is asking ITC to bar Apple from selling, advertising and warehousing the alleged infringing products – iPhone; iPod; iPad. And the company is asking the Federal courts to stop Apple from using its patented technology and to pay for its past infringment.

So it’s time to uninstall the Ovi Files Connector from your PC.
